Aurora Australis

The Aurora Australis is a well known phenomenon throughout Australia and many people now flock to popular sites throughout Tasmania when there is word of an incoming solar storm.

I started chasing Aurora Australis at the beginning of 2013 and have been lucky enough to witness quite a few. In saying this there have been quite a few nights spent in the cold and dark with the camera on standby waiting for something that doesn't happen.

When the skies do light up there is quite a difference to what the eye can see and what the camera captures. This is what makes the whole experience of "Aurora Chasing" something that can turn from complete frustration to exhilaration.
